Easter Dragon
Date: High School Junior, April, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
Easter time! Since I knew how to draw dragons this Easter, I made it look somewhat like a bunny, holding a basket of eggs in its mouth. My favorite part? The fluff on the end of the tail!
Baby Dragon Easter Egg
Date: High School Junior, April, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I was thinking about how strange it would be if a baby dragon came out of its egg and found it all decorated in bright colors. Though, technically, it wouldn’t have known that it was supposed to look like anything else…
Dragon Abstract
Date: High School Junior, April, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
This was a bit of a continuation of “Abstract 2”. Originally in ‘Abstract 2”, I wanted to have dragons flying around it. However, I could not draw dragons well enough at the time. Since I learned how to draw dragons since then, I made another abstract with just the dragons, and an egg in the center because it was around Easter time and I wanted something in the middle.
Shading Words and Dragons
Date: High School Junior, May, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
It was after a school wide test, and I had a lot of time to spare when I finished it. I started doodling with shading, and eventually created a simple style of writing and drawing that looked interesting.
Dragon 6
Date: High School Junior, May, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I used my simple style from “Shaded Words and Dragons” to make an interesting dragon design.
Abstract 5
Date: High School Junior, May, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
Another drawing from time after the school wide test. I had so much time that I was able to finish this crazy drawing. I think it’s similar to the “Loop” drawing I had made before.
When Fish Cry
Date: High School Junior, May, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I suppose I was feeling a little bit down about things and had this image of a fish being sad. I drew it and it turned out to be the best fish I’ve ever drawn. (And technically the first, if you don’t count the circle and triangle fish…)
Birthday Present
Date: High School Junior, May, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
It was around my birthday, and I drew myself a present. The card says, “A block shaped gift for the birthday artist” and the speech bubble says, “I wonder what’s inside”. It is somewhat supposed to be a riddle, and if you really can’t figure it out… It’s artist’s block.
Dragon 7
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I believe this paper was a little different from my other paper, because when I shaded, it felt strange. So the shading of this dragon looks less wondrous as my other shadings.
Swirls
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
When I imagined this, it looked a little bit more like liquid. But when shading, I suppose I made it less like water and more like some hard surface. I still like this though.
Dragon 8
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I was in a family party, and I’m not particularly fond of parties. So I started doodling while I sat with everyone.
Dragon (9) and Orb
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
Since I learned how to draw dragons, I figured I would use my technique of wrapping a snake around an orb in an interesting way. This time, I used a dragon. Or something similar to a dragon, as I call any lizard with wings (beside the Chinese dragon) a dragon.
Dragon 10
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Materials: Crayola Colored Pencil
I wanted to use my colored pencils for something, see how I’ve improved with them over the years. I really like how the colors turned out. One small detail that most people would miss is the fact that the neck is barely connected to the head. It looks connected, but if the jawbone goes that far back on the neck… It just doesn’t make sense to me. You probably would not have noticed it if I had not said anything.
Dragon 11
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Materials: Crayola Colored Pencil
Experimenting with new colors. I think the flower is too small. And I messed up with the leaves and tried to cover it by making another stem, but then it made the flower look small… Oh well.
Kwa
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I was trying to draw this character, Kwa, for a few years, and I never quite got the right look until this drawing. He’s a character I made up in a story I have no name for yet. (Update, the name of the story is Of Heart and Soul and it is continually being posted in the Literature section of this website!) My story needs some serious editing. It’s in first-draft mode at the moment, and I have not finished it either. Also, I was thinking about adding hair to this character…
You may find out more information about Kwa in the new Character section of my website! (Under Literature)
