Dragon 10
Date: High School Senior, Summer, 2009
Time: Several hours (?)
Materials: Crayola Colored Pencil
Description: A colored pencil drawing of a green dragon head with a light green underbelly and horn, and red and orange spine spikes that look like cartoon fire. Its eyes are yellow with a hint of orange. There are lots of individual scales visible. Shading.
Artist’s Comments: I wanted to use my colored pencils for something, see how I’ve improved with them over the years. I really like how the colors turned out. One small detail that most people would miss is the fact that the neck is barely connected to the head. It looks connected, but if the jawbone goes that far back on the neck… It just doesn’t make sense to me. You probably would not have noticed it if I had not said anything.
