Dragons 29 w/BG
Date: College Freshman, November 20th, 2010
Time: An hour or more (?)
Materials: Calligraphy Pen
Description: Three dragons in the picture, crossing over each other. There are only two full wings visible, one from each of the two front dragons. The one behind it is positioned so that the two wings look like they could be its own. There are a lot of squiggles that make up a huge background behind the dragons, so much so that the dragon in the back is hard to see.
Artist’s Comments: After writing different variations of the Mayzart name with the calligraphy pen, I began to experiment more with it. I wanted to draw a dragon and put some intricate design in the background, but after drawing one, it looked so empty that I put another one, and then the wings looked like they could connect to another dragon, so I drew the body of that one behind.
While putting the background in, making it random yet patterned at the same time, I ran out of ink. I switched to the extra ink cartridge, thinking it was black, but it turned out to be brown. I still think it looks interesting though. I put a bit too much of a background around the third dragon’s head, though, you can hardly tell it’s there anymore.
