Anime Eyes 2
Date: High School Junior, September, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
I decided to make the anime eyes look more three–dimensional (even as cartoons) and tried to imagine the head rotated a few degrees. On a fun note, the bottom right eye used to be just the iris and pupil, but it scared me a little bit, so I added the eyelid.
Spiral Light
Date: High School Junior, September, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
I was thinking about how to get more shading practice with simple objects (like snakes). I had an idea about long ‘tubes’ twisting around each other or around a light. After fixating on this idea, I began to make it more dramatic. This is the result.
Abstract
Date: High School Junior, September, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
This random abstract popped into my head while I was bored in school (as most random things pop into my head while I’m bored in school…) but this one actually had a form that I could draw, so I drew it. Sometimes it looks like an optical illusion because of the shading.
Maze
Date: High School Junior, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
I felt it would be fun to create a maze, and then imagined how much more amazing it would look in three-dimensions. So I drew out a maze on paper, and then scaled it and drew it onto another paper so that it had more perspective to it.
2Le
Date: High School Junior, December, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
I drew this in December, however it is a copy of one I drew in freshman year (2006-7). However, the original was on lined paper, and someone had accidentally marked it with a pen (as they traced it along with their pen as one would trace their finger along it, the pen accidentally touched the page and made marks). So I drew another one that is on blank printer paper and does not have accidental pen marks. I only call this 2Le because someone once mentioned it looked like a cursive 2Le all mixed together.
Spiral Sphere
Date: High School Junior, December, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
This looks like it could be one of my Snakes and Orb drawings, except there is no snake head. I felt it would look more symmetrical without one.
Abstract 2
Date: High School Junior, December, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
When I originally had this random idea, I wanted to put dragons flying around the center, with their heads pointing towards the center. However, at the time, I did not have a very good idea of how to draw dragons (as much as I loved them). Later on, after learning how to draw dragons, I made another picture similar to this, with only the dragons in it.
Abstract 3
Date: High School Junior, December, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I was only doodling and adding something similar to the Loop that I had made previously. Also added checkerboard patterns. I suppose this was just a combination of different things I liked to doodle.
Chibi Snowman
Date: High School Junior, December, 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
After learning how to make a simple ‘chibi’ person, I created a Christmas theme set. This snowman was my favorite out of all of them. I scanned it in and mass printed it with the words “Happy Holidays”, cut the paper up to separate each snowman, and then handed them out to all my friends.
A Wish for Dragon Wings
Date: High School Junior, December 2008
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I made this while thinking about how fun it would be to have wings and a tail. I remind you that I am not in the slightest good at drawing people, so I did my best. In my mind, the wings were supposed to be clear, to show that the person was only imagining having wings and a tail.
