Dragon Symbol
Date: High School Junior, January, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
Originally, I had a story idea about a person who drew this design in the sand when he was born, and later on forgot why he drew it, and spent his time sitting inside the circle, thinking about it. Then one day a dragon came and instead of eating him, it just stared curiously at him. And that’s all that was in my story, as I never continued it or anything. This was drawn right after I read a book on drawing dragons, so the wings looked better than my old ones.
Dragon
Date: High School Junior, January, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
After reading a book on dragons that taught me the small things like “baby dragon foreheads are larger than adults”, “they have rounder faces”, etc, I was finally able to draw the dragon I always wanted to draw. In my opinion, this is still the best dragon I have ever drawn to this day. I suppose my later dragons became more simplified.
Dragon 2
Date: High School Junior, January, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
My second good-looking dragon after reading the dragon drawing book. This was when I realized that drawing the front view of a dragon’s head is harder than it seems. I will have to work on it more as time goes on.
Shaded Dragon
Date: High School Junior, January 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
I traced over my original so I could shade it without losing the line art. I think the head looks different in the shaded version.

I traced over my original so I could shade it without losing the line art.
Dragon 3
Date: High School Junior, February, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I drew a dragon, mainly focusing on the wings. Looking back at this, I feel like all the little things are wrong, unrealistic. The limbs of the wings, if you notice, are both bending toward the left of the page, on BOTH the left and right wings. They should be mirror images of each other (almost). Also, I remember when I drew this, someone said that the waist looked thin, so I tried to make it fatter, but now spines on the dragon around the waist look like they don’t go down the middle of its back. So that’s the only reason it looks strange there. Lastly, I didn’t know how to draw arms and legs well, you might be able to tell that I was hiding them artistically.
Baby Dragon
Date: High School Junior, February, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I used my learned tricks about baby dragon foreheads on this baby dragon, and look how it turned out! I think it’s adorable.
Baby Dragon Line Art
Date: High School Junior, February, 2009
Materials: Fine-tip Marker
I traced “Baby Dragon” so that maybe some day I would color this in PhotoShop.
Shaded Baby Dragon
Date: High School Junior, February, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I traced over the original and shaded it so I wouldn’t lose the original or the line art. I love using my shading skills to make something look amazing.
Hearts
Date: High School Junior, February, 2009
Materials: Sharpie Marker
It was Valentine’s Day! And this was my creation for that day. Don’t get a headache!
Abstract 4
Date: High School Junior, March, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I started this before, but then my friend’s baby sister at Doritos one day and she decided to touch my artwork. So I had to start over and redraw what I already had. This is the finished one with no orange fingerprints! I got the idea when I was shading triangle-like shapes back and forth and then realized it looked like some strange optical illusion, added circles to it and poof. Here it is.
Fairy
Date: High School Junior, March, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
Someone requested a drawing of a fairy. They wanted it to look cautious, intelligent, innocent, and curious. I was able to get the look I wanted on the 5th try! (I don’t draw people very well) What other descriptions do you think describe her?
Fairy 2
Date: High School Junior, March, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I don’t draw people very well, so this was very hard for me to get correctly. I used up a lot of eraser. I don’t like the new fairy head as much as in “Fairy”, probably because this head doesn’t look as innocent.
Fairy 3
Date: High School Junior, March, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
Originally, I was just drawing the eye, but then I figured I could draw the rest. This was on the edge of the page, so part of her is cut off, and I was only slightly experimenting with the ears, so it’s not like she has three ears or anything. They’re just in different possible positions.
Dragon 4
Date: High School Junior, March, 2009
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 Pencil
I was just doodling, looking for something to draw. I tried to practice drawing my hand again, but it was so boring that I just drew a bunch of random lines all over the page. While staring at the lines, I started to see the shape of a dragon. So I drew in the dragon that I saw, and added the legs and stuff, and poof! Random dragon next to a random hand.
Dragon 5
Date: High School Junior, March, 2009
Materials: I tried using my technique from the last drawing. I drew random lines and then tried to see a shape. I, of course, saw a dragon, and filled in the lines accordingly.
