Floating City
Date: High School Senior, 2009-10
Time: Several hours
Materials: Crayola Colored Pencil
Description: A floating city of different shaped blocks. There are tall castle-looking blocks at the corners with shining yellow orbs above each of them. It is the bottom view of the city using three point perspective. There are many dragons flying around and a few are dragging a block onto the city. There is a statue in a tower at the center of the city peeking above the closest corner glowing orb. On the bottom of the page there is another three point perspective of a white fountain waterfall lake park thing.
Artist’s Comments: In Art 2, the assignment was to use 3-point perspective to draw a floating city. We were also able to make another 3-point perspective in the bottom of the page, so I did that. The bottom was supposed to be a park, except I didn’t feel like drawing trees, so it’s some sort of water park with a waterfall that comes from the rain dropping into those containers. I added dragons (as a bit of a signature and also…) to make it look like the dragons were building the city.
