Doors From Door
Date: High School Sophomore, 2008
Time: Several hours over the course of several days.
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
Description:A door opened with darkness inside it and six closed doors different sized doors coming out of it, leaving streaks in their paths from the main open door. The background is three different shades of dark gray, starting with the darkest nearest the main door and the lightest farthest away from the main door.
Artist’s Comments: I wanted to do something special and amazing and I had this idea about choices. After you make a choice, a million more choices appear. So I symbolized a door as a choice (to open, or to leave alone). When one door is opened, you get many more doors to choose from, whether to open or not. On later inspection of this piece, I think I should have added more doors that were closed to show the choices that weren't made.
