Snake and Orb 5
Date: High School Sophomore, 2008
Time: An hour or more (?)
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
Description: A pencil drawing (with good shading) of a long snake, part of it twisted around an orb to hold it up by its tail, the rest of it twisted in a looped downward-facing clover-like pattern. Its head is facing down and its forked tongue is sticking out, eyes looking sinister and evil. Serpent, mean, snake eyes, twisted, tangled, ball, statue design, black, white, gray, shading.
Artist’s Comments: I dreamed a strange dream and decided to make a story out of it. One of the things I added to my story (it was not in my dream) was a shelf of figurines and miniature statues. This was one of my ideas, and it was only a sketch to see if I could make it look a certain way.
After attempting to draw the statue design twice, and drawing a random new image of a snake and orb, I experimented more with shapes and orbs.
This is just another design that a snake would never hold an orb with, but it looks nice. It is entertaining to see people try to follow the snake with their finger to see if it works. I assure you, it does.
