Spiral Light
Date: High School Junior, September, 2008
Time: Several hours (?)
Materials: Mechanical 0.9 pencil
Description: A pencil drawing of three twisted tube-like things spiraling around a bright white light beam coming from a point near the bottom of the picture. The spiraling pipes also meet at that point, and three more light beams come out from it. Pencil shading, black, white, gray, dark.
Artist’s Comments: I was thinking about how to get more shading practice with simple objects (like snakes). I had an idea about long ‘tubes’ twisting around each other or around a light. After fixating on this idea, I began to make it more dramatic. This is the result.
